Thought i'd start this to pass along any info that might not be known.
A water outage is scheduled for Monday, 18 January 2010 (MLK Holiday), from 1300-1700 hours, for Pueblo Street (North Fort Polk). The outage is necessary for American Water to replace a fire hydrant. The following buildings will be affected: 7913, 7727, 7728, 7906 and 7903.
Dont know if anyone else is having water problems, but mine was off for a bit and now its got low pressure. I called housing and for my street (guiney) we're gonna have low pressure til tomorrow and under a boil water advisory til further notice. The thing is, they wont give us this notice. They are only telling people as they call in. So, if you're having low pressure, i'd call and check.
Anyone know when the tax center "opens" so I can call and schedule to be seen? I'm a little eager for tax return. Husband bought stuff on the credit card for Christmas to save us money since the prices went up in January dramatically, but I'm eager to pay it off (and pay his sister back who helped pay part of it).
i think it opens on the 15th because the irs starts reviewing returns that day. i only know this cause i do all my own taxes with a business and everything. to me i seem to get a bigger refund that way because you can find more and better deductions that some places don't tell you about.
I'd love to do my own and get a bigger return, but I get too overwhelmed with the army stuff. I always think I'm going to get less doing it myself.
What business do you have Kira?
Nice, all I got was a flood warning. But I checked weather.com and this is what is says:
Tornado Watch for Leesville, LA
until 10 pm CST Wednesday.
A Tornado Watch has been issued. Conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes. As the threat intensifies, this watch may be upgraded to a warning. Stay vigilant for severe weather.
i have t mobile t zones, and have the weather channel on my phone. you might be able to go to the weatherchannel.com and see if you can do it on any phone from there
anyone here for the hurricanes last year? what were they, one was hurricane ike and one was gusto or something. lol. anyway... anyone know anything about the people deploying to haiti? my friends husband just got told he was deploying to Haiti on friday... yes, the day after tomorrow..
I'm so scared of tornados!! haha...I grew up in NY on Long Island and I am not used to tornado warnings...we had severe thunderstorms/blizzards/occasional weak hurricane, but that was about it haha...we once had a water spout, which I guess is just a tornado over the water..? But that was def not a recurring thing. On my way down here we stopped at my cousins house who lives in TN...omg, 4th of July we're eating dinner and the freakin tornado siren goes off...all us girls get into the closet...everyone was acting like it's nothing, and my uncle and husband are outside looking for the thing and drinking lol... meanwhile I think I chewed all my fingernails off waiting in that closet lol...my cousin said it happens daily up there...I don't think I could ever live there haha
Wow, I haven't heard anything about that. I'll have to ask hubby, if I can get him to tell me anything.....Im so fed up with him right now I'd gladly volunteer him to go LOL I know that sounds awful but he is driving me NUTS!
Part of the 509th is going to Haiti????
That is my husbands unit here and he "might" be coming back....
Amy- I was here for those hurricanes. Well, I went back to Texas during Gustav but stayed here for Ike. I was so worried about my parents that week because they were on a cruise.
I'm from central texas, so we're used to tornado warnings. The sirens still send chills down my spine, but just hearing the tornado warnings on the news is like hearing about a traffic jam or something... pretty common.
what creeps me out is air raid sirens lol.
i lived over on speas ct in north fort when the hurricanes hit... i was alone with a month old baby because my husband was "working" our power went out, our roof leaked bad in the laundry room and water was coming up from underneath the carpet in the dining room. after that they gave us disaster relief-like $450 on a food stamp card. my husband is from west texas and they always have tornados. i've only seen 1 tornado in my lifetime when i was waay younger in upstate NY.
