actual events of women being followed home and hurt becuase someone saw the magnents
I'm sure it was in the training manual... but I don't believe it. The army likes a certain level of paranoia. I googled it, and can't seem to find any articles or evidence to support that claim.
Just my opinion... I personally think the half my hearts are kinda tacky, but I know there are many women who like them, and I don't see any harm in it.
In today's world... army or not... things happen. Bad things happen to good people who did nothing to deserve it.
One could argue that putting a "proud army wife" sticker on your vehicle could flag you as a potential victim when traveling and found in an area that doesn't support the Iraqi Mission. Hell... I have an army mandated sticker on my vehicle that flags me as army affiliated.
It was not in the manual, it was an Opsec person(dont remember which department, we had LOTS of speakers) who came in and talked to us.. That was their example... My actual point was that info on here can put us at risk not just them where ever they may go...
About the Opsec.... My first frg meeting, we talked about this because it is bad. For instance, my hubbys unit is 509th, they role play here at Jrtc. Well, they go on facebook & myspace to fond info about the soldiers coming here for training that they can use against them.
This just shows that anyone can find something. So, keep your myspace/facebook private. This site is hard though because it's not private. I personally think it should be (I know people can still join but it'd be better)
I also know that I'm not the greatest with opsec but I am getting better.
i agree stella. if you have anything military affiliated you can become a target. doesnt matter if its a half my heart sticker or support our troops magnet. if they want to target you they will, regardless of how many/what kind of sticker is on your car. sometimes i think ppl get there panties in a bunch over something so silly. pretty soon, the army will issue us a plain jane car so everyone will be the same
if they want to target you they will,
Ding ding ding... we have a winner.
Well, they go on facebook & myspace to fond info about the soldiers coming here for training that they can use against them.
Those soldiers cared enough to go out and find it.
For heaven's sakes... you can use reverse phone look up to find people. Doesn't matter if you are a private listing or a cell-phone or anything... if they pay for the membership, they get your information.
Seriously... the Iraqis may be dumb, but they aren't that dumb. Sure, a few might go out to "myspace" and search literally the millions of people there to find someone to attack... but the smart ones know better. They go to an airport, they find a major city on the map, they pick random UNSECURE times to make there move to be the most efficient.
Hell, why not camp out the military base airport facilities? Someone is bound to use that at some point in the month. Attacking 1,000 soldiers sounds smart to me.
In no point in history to date has any "enemy" done anything based off of some wife's stupid chit chat on a forum. They have much better avenues that take much less time than trying to piece a puzzle together of "soldier" "united states" "wife" and "march".
Hell, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the twin towers were targeted because of a window sticker or something someone said on a forum used by less than 100 people.
Okay, my basic point is... walking into a wal-mart is just as dangerous as sitting home all alone.
Yeah, use common sense. Don't go taking out an ad in the New York times posting top secret military information. But seriously... don't live in a bubble. Common sense can be applied there to.
Google "army wife killed". Just go see how many army wives have ever died of anything. There are more army wives who kill, than get killed.
About all the "Army Wife" ect Car Stickers/Magnets. Umm, we all have decals on our Front Windshield that show we are Military. People just have to look for that if they are trying to harm military people/families.
Here is something... Class A for sale.
If you are smart, you would know better than to buy one. They army is getting very close to switching to their new Blue's.
Maybe I should be smart and try to sell my husband's. Well, except he may still need one until then and he hates to borrow. Also, he got married in it, so it'll probably go next to the wedding dress that just takes up space. And, I guess since I know Class A's are so close to be worthless, I couldn't sell it to someone and feel good.
These are just thoughts! I'm in no way complaining about her selling it. It's still an item some people may need or just want. Seeing it just got me thinking.
Ugh, I hate those damn Class A's. They are so expensive. We have like 2 or 3 Sets of those cause Hubby "grew" out of them. He wants to hold on to the other sets in case he goes down in size again.
The Resource Management Branch will conduct a controlled burn in the housing area today. The controlled burn will take place in area LN 6, between LA 467 and Warren Street.
a couple years ago they were always burning the forest near north fort and for some reason it always made the power go out, but that was when they were burning the part accross the rd from chaffee, it was soo smokey!
Weather conditions for today are favorable to conduct a prescribed burn in family housing area. The burn will be in Dogwood Terrace south, Tracey, Wideman Court, and east of Hagg Street. DES Fire/Police and Post Safety representatives will be on site.
