Ah, man. I had to go listen to Jeff Foxworthy's "Words in the South". It was funnier than I remembered. Wish it was out there on the internet for free for everyone to hear.

i lived in michigan til i was about 5. my dad was army, so we moved to ky for a few yrs, then germany, then back to ky with visits back to Mi now and then. now and then ppl tell me i have a northern accent. i dont hear it at all, especially listening to family who has lived there there whole life lol. we were watching an old home video from 10 yrs ago when my son was a baby. OMG my Ky accent was so thick i couldnt believe it! Neither could my husband lol. i have a slight accent now, but nowhere near what i used to which is funny since i lived in ky for the last 20 yrs. as far as typing words that make no sense(dat, der, dem, dis, dey, ight, etc) i cant stand it! to some its easier than typing the whole word. um, no its stupid imo. im sure some of you notice i dont capitalize or use alot of punctuation lol. that's just because its faster and easier for me not to lol. im actually very smart, and graduated top 10 % of my class of over 300 kids. i can also use the excuse of my hands being different hehe. and spelling mistakes catch my eyes everywhere i go and it drives me nuts! i try not to point it out to anyone because i know some ppl arent the best spellers lol.

LOL. Northern Accent. I get a kick out of that when people say they know I'm from the north because of my accent. I don't have an accent. There is no such thing as a northern accent. It's just English. If you asked them to pin point what states are northern accent states, it's all the states that aren't southern. No one would know if I was from Illinois or Utah or California or Oregon...

Jenn ♥ --- 209 days ago -

oh if you heard my cousins from michigan you'd know they were from way up north

Google --- 209 days ago -

Lol. There are northern "state" accents in my book. Like New York... that's it's own accent. Texas is also it's own accent to me, I don't fit it just in Southern. Just what I think. My own little book is just that, my own. Certainly don't want anyone to think that I have some scientific knowledge about accents and expect everyone else to think as I do. Hmmm, now I wonder if there is an actual scientific accent guide... I'll have to google that.

Thats like people say Kentucky has a "southern" accent, NOPE! Their accent is of their own, nothing like ours.

Google --- 209 days ago -

I think I combine Louisiana, Mississippi together, and then Georgia and Alabama are pretty close and could fit in. I've never been to Florida, so I couldn't say there. Then the Carolina's have their accent...

Beaker --- 209 days ago -

People know immediately when I open my mouth that I'm from Chicago. I think its cuz we say "chicawgoh".

Yuralria --- 209 days ago -

im from MI and there is no accent. people from MI sound just like the people on the news, like MSNBC or FNC. they are taught to talk with out accents and thats just how MI people sound... now.. the U.P. is a WHOLE different story haha

Yuralria --- 209 days ago -

as far as typing words that make no sense(dat, der, dem, dis, dey, ight, etc) i cant stand it! there are a ton of people on here who cant spell, it makes me CRAZY! seeing "there" in place of "their" drives me bonkers! ( i dont mean this in a mean way)

amy --- 209 days ago -

yeah, i dont think i have an accent either, i mean, its wierd how you go to different parts of NY and hear different accents. NYC of course has their own, i'm from the middle, and i have no accent except when im really angry lol.and way up north near canada has a totally different accent, kinda hickish, like wisconsin or yeah, like the UP-ers (dont really know what that is, but have family-in-laws that say they are from there)

amy --- 209 days ago -

oh and massachusetts some parts have none and alot have that "baaston" accent. lol

Yuralria --- 209 days ago -

UP-ers (dont really know what that is HAHA!!! it's Uppers. That's funny stuff! its more then an accent up there, its a whole different language!

Jenn ♥ --- 209 days ago -

seeing "there" in place of "their" drives me bonkers! lol. or your instead of you're. i know im guilty now and then when my fingers go faster than my brain

Yuralria --- 209 days ago -

haha, your and youre dont get me as much as there and their because the "there, their and they're" is SO different your and youre is kinda close. a lot and alot get me too. its A LOT! ha! i could go on all day though haha

BratsMuttsNFish --- 208 days ago -

Yes a lot is two words. lol.

Mandy --- 205 days ago -

hehe I am so happy that I am not the only person who spots misspellings and poor grammar. Not that I'm grading people over here or anything. It drives my husband nuts when I proof read something he wrote and I come back with all sorts of imperfections...but he asks for it!

I love seeing road signs or restaurant marquee's with misspelled words. Lol
